I never understood why on the Cuda 340 and 383 the engine displacement is below the Cuda name but on the 440 it is reversed. ???

drgordi:

You might like these. They are PR photos of a pre-production 1969 Cuda 340.

drgordi, your car looks gorgeous!

Interesting that they have the 'recall wheels' in the pre-production photos.

The "Recall Wheels" were officially cancelled 9/10/68. The photos would have been taken before the cancellation. The do appear in other PR photos which were also taken before the cancellation. PR and Brochure photos are taken months before the official release date for production cars:

Very nice car. I didn't know you could get the 440 in one of these.

Out of all the muscle cars I appreciate and love, this particular model was, perhaps, the most influential in "hooking" me to becoming infatuated with the big engine in a smallish car concept.
It was back in the summer of 69. I was only 8! Our family always seemed to go to Florida for vacation. My grandparents owning a condo in a beachfront high rise in Ft. Lauderdale, that gave us a place to stay, was probably why Florida was our destination. This particular summer, it rained, long and hard, I'll add. On the ground floor of this condo was a drugstore. Bored, I went down to this store with no real purpose. I ended up buying my 1st hot rod magazine. I still have it, BTW. The magazine was called SuperStock. This particular issue has on the cover a 69 440 Cuda. The article inside the magazine about this car was titled: "Nose Heavy Neck Snapper". I have never forgotten that title, nor the car.
