Lee, I know you are referencing auctions because that's the information available to you. There are private sales that aren't recorded for higher. There are so few built and sold to get real #'s. Condition integrity/originality is also why prices fluctuate.

You are correct - I am referencing Mecum auctions. We know that the car in Post #1 and car #18 both have their original engines plus plenty of documentation. Car #23 - the last car to sell at a Mecum auction does not have it's original engine.

The evidence I have presented has to be taken for something.

Yes - the biggest selling feature is the 328 miles on the clock which is probably why it was bid to $75,000 higher than #18. Definitely needs the proper Goodyear Wide Tread F70x14 RWL tires - $2000 to fix that.

I think the price difference between the two is color, condition and the fact that # 18 has a repo trim tag. Miles mean little on a restored car. Pretty obvious the picture is distorted and makes the belt look crooked.

Guessing ZL-1's are a car-by-car market. And wouldn't be surprised if the top examples, like the Blue RS if/when offered, would set new marks - though maybe they don't "pull-along" the lesser cars as they once did?

ZL1 #6 silver auto OE drivetrain sold for $715,000 with 10% April 2015.

ZL1 #63 orange 4-speed OE engine sold for $440,000 with 10% last year at a TX auction. Legendary bought it so he must have thought it was under the money.

#30 was at Mecum FL 2016, did not meet reserve.

The auctioneer in the Charley-Colin car is Jim Landis. Jimmy is a local Manheim auctioneer and is one of the best in the business. His Dad, Omar, who has since passed away, owned a small auction in PA and used to promote The Dutchland Collector Car Auction for years. Jim is a real good guy who has sold for me, and sold to me for a long time.
