I get the desire for one of those, totally. As a younger man, I always wanted a Chevy/GM product but as I age, I gain more and more appreciation for the other marks and would love to buy a '68-70 GTX as they are just kick-azz cool Taxi cabs. :)

A 12

I totally agree !

I can't find it online, but there is a great letter that Tom Hoover wrote to the NHRA in response to them questioning production numbers of A12's. They were implying that they were purpose built race cars that were not available to the public. He sarcastically replied that unlike the 69 ZL1 Camaros which were scarce, they were so busy building and filling retail customer orders that they would only be able to supply production numbers sometime after the 1100th car had rolled off the line.

Hey, I know that guy! The author Jim V. I mean, lives across town from me. He's been authoring a lot of car and racing related stuff for a while now, has a really nice 409 Impala.

A little trivia on that 12.91 run Ronnie Sox made . . .

They removed the air cleaner assembly, the engineers told Sox to shift at 5500 RPM and he shifted without using the clutch.

A12's are one of my favorite Chrysler products (along with Max Wdge cars) and for the longest time they were quite reasonably priced when the whole world had Hemi fever.

What's not to love about A12 cars? They're of the charts cool and have the performance to match. I enjoy the fact that a lot of A12 owners still drive the thunder out of them. Always out in force at the pure stock and FAST races.

Could you imagine checking one box for a packaged base 69 Nova with a 3x2 427, M22 or a CX M40, F41 and BV code axle out back, all for in the mid $3k range? :burnout: :burnout:
