Interesting 1969 RS/Z/28 found

A friend of mine Bill at Solo Speed Shop in CA just purchased this neat time capsule 69 RS Z/28 that I thought to share as it has such an interesting story. It was owned by a friend of Bill's, Merle Duprey, who bought in the 80's out of Fresno, CA. It sat under a shelter on Merle's desert property for many years. It was an early built Z, built in Van Nuys, CA plant:
Production Date: 1/31/1969
Dealer Zone: #6
Dealer GM Code: #415
Dealer Name: Martens Chevrolet & Oldsmobile Company
Dealer Location: Reedley, CA

Flat hood, no spoilers, and endura front bumper, original Lemans Blue, white stripes.

In 2011, the car was purchased by Fast & Furious movie star Paul Walker and his partner Roger Rodas. They had Jerry MacNeish document and authenticate the car in 2012, and indeed it was all original Z. They had planned on having the car restored and took out to Jack Scanlon's shop in Post Falls, ID where it sat for a couple years. Tragically both Paul and Roger were killed in the accident and the car went back to Merle DuPrey. He passed away recently and Bill was able to purchase.

Man, a black plate RS/Z, doesn't get much better.

That car was baking out in the desert sun 20 years ago. Funny thing is, he had cars that were worth a lot less in trailers. He had a nice blue 70 z rs with 5,500 miles...m22. Hate to talk about the dead, but he was a goof ball.

HE had stuff squirreled away all around that place... thankfully Dana got the Desert Rat 68 Yenko and Dave got the 69 RS/SS L78 vert out of there...

Sometimes it's the goofballs who have bought/hoarded all kinds of cars/parts and ratted them away. Nice to see a few of them come out into more caring hands.

That 70Z I'm told just sold for big money.
