Painting my '70 Z28 wheels

I know this has been talked about in the past but I couldn't find the right post. On the Nasty site they say DDl 32961 but that seems to fade after a while according to people that have experience with it. What would you 2nd gen guys recommend. Also I need 4 GoodYear Poly Glass GT F-60 15's, who got um? Thanks.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Read THIS Link............

You can either use the correct paint formula and have your wheels look original......or you can use a vast variety of other paint products or even powder coating.
I had a 70 Z-28 new, and I can recall the original paint degrading from using a scrub brush to wash/clean.
Bottom line is correct/original or Plan B/durability

I've done several sets of these wheels with DDL 32961 with great results. It's the only paint that give the correct look and finish. Not sure how it holds up in, but the way we use and drive these cars, I think it will last a long time.

The other thing you can do is a common practice and I do this with the L-72 Coupe. I have a set of goldline bias plys and the original dated KH Knock Off wheels in the storage room and a set of Coker radial gold lines with mid-80s GM Knock Offs on the car for driving. I would do the same with your Z28. Original wheels in the store room for shows and maybe some correct looking wheels on the car for driving?

Chuck, Is that PPG 35517 for the outer wheel surface? I'm out of luck on the DDL 32961, No laquer in California.
Thanks. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

47Hammer, 35517 is for backside of wheel......Have somebody send you the DDL32961 from a PPG distributor still selling
laquer as they do here in WA, and I'm certain other places.

I'll volunteer to do so, if you cant find a better alternative.

A quart is much more than you need for 4 or 5 wheels, but the pint pricing......makes the qt a better deal.....and then you can share/send the remainder to someone else ????

For people reading all of this, I am looking for a few more 1st design trim rings, and original 1st design lug nuts that arent too beat up.....AND anybody have a vendor/contact that will remove small dings and polish these stainless rings, per my directions.
