69 Chevelle SS Front Springs
 

I am replacing the above in my SS and the car does NOT have F41. I live in Charlotte and go pick up Eaton Springs from NPD, but they only offer the heavy duty front springs. I looked on Rock auto and they too only offer the front heavy duty spring. I want to make sure the spring pocket on the control arm is the same for both heavy duty and regular duty springs. Is it ok to put a heavy duty front spring on a regular duty control arm.

Yes, all will fit inside the pocket. The HD Springs will make the front end sit high, especially if the car has no A/C.

In the FWIW file, I have a 69 Malibu that is loaded with options. The build sheet on the car specifies a GW (3952818) front spring for which I have seen that code on several 69 Chevelle BB cars, without AC. Many years ago, I got the spring wire size and rate charts and found the CS5390 was a good match for the GW spring. I installed them and they fit perfectly and gave me a good ride height. Rock Auto has them for $66. The CS6319 is also a great standard duty rear spring. They have those for $45.

If you look under the 5.7 liter 69 Chevelle in the Rock Auto website, you will see this spring application and associated part number (3952818) in the listing.

I contacted Eaton Spring Tech Support today and chatted with a lady. I asked her for a standard front spring for my application. She told me all they had was the HD spring as listed with NPD. I then asked her to look into a 350 CI car's application to see what was available that may cross reference over for my application. She was less than helpful and said what was listed is all that they had. Woj, what I was attempting to do and get into a discussion with this lady is exactly what you pointed out. I feel certain that there is a correct spring listed somewhere for the 69 BB non ac cars that are not F41.
FWIW, I bought from Rock Auto a standard duty non ac Moog spring for my BB convertible 69 Camaro. The were perfect ride height and improved drivability 100%. I went ahead and bought the Eaton springs from NPD but they are not installed yet. I did check with Ground Up and they have the same HD spring that Rock Auto has. I can't find a BB non AC non F41 spring listed unless you go the route that Woj suggests.

They offer a spring for both ac and no ac cars with varying heights or stock. They are $100 higher than the balance of the vendors?
