Now, you've gone and done it. Everyone selling a 396 car will be quoting your hp figures for their cars. Your car is a good example of how much horsepower there is to be gained in the details. Too many people spend a lot of money on bigger cams, bigger carbs, different intakes and not running as well as your car. Nothing like being stock and quick too. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

some have asked were the dyno # with the water pump and crank pulleys attached;and yes they were attached .the car idled nice and smooth on the dyno at 900 rpm.one note ;it showed a few hp gain with the ngk race plugs.

Great numbers! Our 302 that we just got back from CHP generated 426 hp. We were very happy with the numbers and now that engine is in the car, it rocks! 2.52 tranny and 4.10 rear. Look out!

Those numbers are right on the money. I have the dyno sheets for my 1970 L78 Nova SS and the motor is bone stock.
433HP at 5400 rpms and 460 lb/ft of torque at 3600 rpms

Re: 1968 nova 396/375 dyno results.

Don't the '70 L78's make less power with the low rise 569 intake? I think the 163 is good for about 20 hp.

Chris, nice #'s. Seems a little torquey. Which intake # does your 68 use? Also, what kind of gain did you see with the plugs?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are those figures at the crank or RWHP??
