Reproduction Brake Hoses
Looking for a source for correctly reproduced / inked front brake hoses for a 70 Z28 restoration. Is there anyone out there providing this service? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I would try Rick Nelson at http://musclecarrestorationanddesign...ents/index.htm. I know he makes or has the hoses made for his LS6 restorations with the right part# stamped on them.

I need them too. The reproductions out are 69 models with the metal ring on them!

Count me in too.

BcreekDave, I like the sound of your Z! Mine has a black vinyl roof, white stripes and a green std interior.

"I would try Rick Nelson"
I should have asked him when I saw him at MCACN...urgh. |
We could not find NOS brake lines when we restored Mark's 70 Z28 though I have seen many sets for sale since then. Figures. We then used a set from In Line Tube and I stamped them in house. Since that time the replacement lines have been coming with zinc plating instead of gold. We stamp our own lines for every car we restore but it is very costly to make sets for 'mail in hoses' due to how labor intensive it is and the set up time to stamp them. I can do them but it can get expensive. When they are done with the entire car's restoration it is just covered in the cost of that restoration.

Rick, I was looking at your 70 copper Z restoration. Amazing, by the way! I see that you also used Inline Tube's front brake hoses. The problem is the metal ring that secures it to the control arm on a 69. I talked to several people at InlineTube. Looking through their website, they do make one without the ring and with the correct ends, but it is for, I believe, an A body, and is 3/4" short. Do you have any connections at Inline Tube? I am a stickler fr details, and this is bugging me! Of course seeing that you used them on that beautiful restortoration makes me sleep better at night!
P.S. Your stamps are safe and sound, soon to be returned to you! Thanks again Buddy |
Buddy, that was a minor detail that I did overlook during the restoration and it was brought to my attention at MCACN regarding the ring. I really hate when I make stupid mistakes like that! You are correct, A-bodies do not have the ring but they are indeed too short. The ring can be very carefully cut off. It will leave a small impression but that is better than seeing the ring. Thanks for getting the stamps back to me.
