Gasoline powered cars aren't going anywhere. The market will slowly move toward EVs but by the time gasoline is no longer a viable energy source we will all be long, long gone.

Try to see it as a "follow the money" issue rather than a political issue. There is still a lot of money to be made by oil companies slowly raising the price (see: 1973, 1978, 2008, the recent inflation binge for shareholders to cash in, etc.). Also, fossil fuels are in almost everything produced on earth, or somewhere in the production chain. Until fossil fuels are too expensive to consider I would say that gasoline powered vehicles will be around a long time. Again, as long as there's money to be made.
