Been a member here for 20 years, don't get by as much as i used to. So..not only was i involved with production on this project, i was there wih Bart for the real deal back in the seventies. He's actually the guy who got me in to this line of work in high school, stiil at it 45 years later( now who's fault was that?) Seriously though i am so proud of him moving fwd on this after decades. It was a crazy biz back then, Rock and Roll, hot rods, racing on Mulholland, working car crashes, dealing with all types of folks, all in an L.A backdrop. This is a sanitized account rated P.G.. The stories are all true and endless, which is what you want for a successful series, material in spades. I look at some of these recent reality Tow Truck series that have done pretty well suprizingly, but are clearly limited audience themed. Helmet has the potential to not only be successful, but the legs to keep going based on real life characters( and boy were there some) It was kind of surreal being involved with this shoot forty years after the fact, because all the actors involved were named after the real people i worked with then. Anyway i have been an advocate of this story to be told for many years, and proud Bart jammed it in first then side stepped the clutch. It's going to be a hit i am confident of that. I didn't realize what a wild profession it was till much later in life,it was not your average nine to five which 90% of people experience and that's where i could easily see people gravitating to watch.. a great period view of L.A from a pro roaming the streets looking for action.
