We recently had to replace our exhaust system. It’s an optional Chevrolet factory “Turbo Upgrade Kit” for a 2016 Chevy Sonic RS. It’s a dealer installed option and has been on the car for 4 months. It has chrome tailpipes and now one of them is starting to split on the edge. It’s probably being accelerated by the moisture that collects at that point on the tailpipe. The tail pipes and muffler are one assembly. It’s made by Borla for GM. We contacted Borla about it and they said that it shouldn’t do that at all. So, they actually sent us a brand new complete system, from head-pipe all the way back as warranty replacement. Shipped free too! Great customer service! So now we have the whole new system, but I’m hesitating about putting it on right away because I don’t want this tailpipe to potentially split like the one that’s on the car now. Can something be done to treat or seal chrome so it won’t happen again? Any suggestions?
