Meteor wagon
Here is my big scow. A 61 Meteor Ranch Wagon which as far as i'm aware is the only one left of 477 made. Being a Canadian-only model and with bare metal floors it only lasted decades after the next to last one by being from Alberta and off the road for half it's life and still required a whole lot of rust repair work.
The three two barrel setup is added to the original 332 FE, I modified three Autolite 2V carbs and made my own linkage to incorporate the kickdown. Normally 6V Fords were stick only. I made custom Tri-Y headers and dual exhaust otherwise it is all stock. The trans is the original Cruis-O-Matic . Car has 77,000 miles and so far none of the drivetrain has needed more than gaskets. The wheels are 15 x 6 and 15 x 8's with the original hubcaps. I've tried to sell the car in the past but only found cheapskates who think they will buy a better one cheaper if they keep looking. Doomed to keep it, i've added some power and still looking for pedals and clutch linkage to further distance it from 99% of potential purchasers. They already squawked about the manual steering and brakes... "On a car this big?" , and one muscular "he-man" almost fainted when asking if it has "any leaks from the engine, trans or power steering" and I said it's MANual steering. He goes, "I can't drive that!" I also put a picture with 20" chrome bling wheels (only have two so both on left!) to compare since almost nobody notices the rear steel wheels were 8" wide with 29" tall tires. http://s25.postimg.org/3ma654hhb/IMG_6810.jpg http://s25.postimg.org/i6vdubkvz/Meteor20s_3.jpg http://s25.postimg.org/ozvqqlbpb/IMG_6212.jpg Hmm, they didn't show, I tried hotlink and that didn't work either. Oh well, click the three links. Last edited by TomP; 09-23-2017 at 04:03 AM. |

I'll try to find my photos from a yard I went through in Peace River, Alberta in 2004. There were a few 61 wagons there, one might have been a Meteor. All crushed out now though!
Nice car! |

I saw two Monarchs in MI at the Orphan Car Show. This Meteor has a bit of '63 Buick in the front end.
