Default 1968 NF2 ?

I just noticed in my 68 aim under NF2,It states DWG 5-22-68,REL 6-22.Does this mean there wasn't any NF2 camaros built before 6-22-68?

Sure they were. They were called 1967 Camaros. In 1967 the RPO code was N61 for that exhaust system. N61 (67) and NF2 (68) consisted of the same exhaust sytem just a different year.

I believe that the reason that the sheet is dated for a 6-3 release is because that is when the N10 was cancelled so the NF2 would have taken over as the only dual exhaust for the low hp V8's.
NF2 was available all year long as the exhaust for the bigblocks.

N10 was still available along with NF2 in 1968. They were two different systems.

Rick,
The assembly manual shows the N10 as cancelled as of 6-3-68, is this incorrect?

Ok... so i have my 04A built 68 Camaro...it had the dual exaust as the brackets and muffler is still under it (looks like swiss cheses!! lol) but what RPO code was origionally on my build sheet? N10 or NF2... judging by the above post it was N10... but I may be wrong.

I am quite sure it was not cancelled. N10 was an option found on the low horsepower cars. The NF2 was for any of the higher horsepower cars such as the 295hp 350 and up including the 375hp 396.

A little over 4400 cars were equiped in 1968 with N10 exhaust and a little over 9000 on the NF2 so that doesn't sound like it was cancelled.

Also to note is N10 was still an available RPO in 1969 along with NC8 Chambered (for a while).

Ok Rick..my 68 has an L30 in it.. which was lower than the 295hp 350 and up u say got the NF2. So that means if my car had factory dual exaust it was of the N10 version? what are the distinguishing differences in the N10 and the NF2.. were the pipe diameters different? different mufflers?

Your car would have the 2" pipes with the muffler being the same 2" input and output. The other systems would be the 2 1/4" inch.
