Looking to Reunite T0610JD L78 Motor with 1969 Chevelle SS 396
I have a good running and ready to drop-in 396 L78 motor that I'd like to try and reunite with the Chevelle that it was originally born with at the Baltimore plant. The motor has a casting date of D8-9 and the 840 heads are dated C-12-9 and C-13-9. A my good friend Dan put it, it "can't get much better than that" and I would agree.
The numbers stamped in the deck are T0610JD 19B394809 In case the car's owner decides to search his entire VIN rather than just the last six digits, I'll post the possible VIN numbers here: 136379B349809 if it's a coupe, 136679B349809 if it's a convertible, 134279B349809 if it's a post sedan, and 134809B349809 if it's an el Camino. I noticed that the motor is already listed on the following threads dating back to 2013: http://www.chevellestuff.net/1969/engines/index.htm http://chevellestuff.net/orphaned/or..._paperwork.htm http://www.chevelles.com/forums/15-t...19b394809.html If you own the Chevelle that this motor was born with, please send me a PM and we'll do our best to reunite the car with it's motor. Here is an old and new photo of the stamping.

Wow. I have a relatively close match. Baltimore ‘69 hardtop 392716. It’s an L78 M21 3.31 car. Missing the original engine but the trans and rear are original. Owned the car since 1988. Might be interested if you don’t find the exact match. Mike Bailey.

Looks like you mixed up a couple of the digits in your possible VIN's listed. You have 349809 listed but it looks like 394809.

Mike, if the motor cannot be reunited with the original car, then I’d like to see the motor end up in the right car. Shoot me a PM with your contact information so we can work something out.

Thanks for pointing out my dyslexia Jeff. Funny that I haven’t noticed that!
The numbers stamped in the deck are indeed TO610JD 19B394809 The possible VIN numbers for the born with Chevelle might be: 136379B394809 if it's a coupe, 136679B394809 if it's a convertible, 134279B394809 if it's a post sedan, 134809B394809 if it's an el Camino, and of course 134379B394809 if it’s a 300 Deluxe hardtop

This motor has not been reunited with the original car.
I'm going to re-post this in the for sale section... asking $6,500 but will consider a reasonable offer. Thanks!
