Whoopsie, my tag is 11B

My NCRS doc says GM official production date 11/14/68 zone 6, Dealer 257
Hallman Chevrolet, Reno NV

On my cowl tag the LA scheduling code is H744 Body is LOS131674. Im actually wondering if mine was held up for some reason.

NCRS is typically the shipping date. I have never seen any doc that had a production date on it. One of the CRG core members located about 200 dealer invoices for '69. Cars mostly shipped [68%] within 3 days of production.

If either was held up it would have been L507834. Can't imagine any other reason an earlier VIN would have had the later stripe.

I was just going by whats typed on my NCRS letter. They call it Official Production date. So this is actually the shipping date? Thats good to know.

For the most part it is the same day or the next. But, not always.

The NCRS docs say production date and I believe that to be correct. My #1 '67 Z was built on 12-29-66 and not shipped until 1-13-67. I don't know why there was the delay in shipping but the other '67 Zs built at this time were also delayed for shipment. I have a document from Vince Piggins' files that shows the date ordered, date built, and date shipped and the NCRS document I got had the same production date that Piggins' document said.

It depends on what GM documents NCRS is using. It's my understanding they have accounting docs. If it is the dealer invoice GMAC generated, they may be assuming the ship date is the build date. The invoice does not list a production date.

I have two pages from a 1967 Canadian shipping report. It lists both dates.

Just got my NCRS and it had a production date of 7-29, my NICB shows 7-30 shipped. Seemed normal to me.

John DeLorean wrote a book about his time at GM and a good portion is devoted to his promotion to Chevy General Manager February '69. Chevy had just switched over to a new IT system for 1969 and it was a disaster. Some dealers were never billed for cars they received. That's why there is a big gap in the NCRS data for '69.

67 & 68 data seems ok. '69, not so sure.
