Default Valve clearance on Yenko aluminum block ?

Hi !

This 427 that was put together some years ago. It was never started due to the fact that the X66 car it was put in had some damage. We also had some concern about the builder of the engine since we heard he was drinking a lot while building this engine. It was never started since we wanted to make sure everything was alright. Anyway, here is the question: a normal Chevy BB has material removed from the top of the cylinder to unshroud the valve I guess. Is this necessary or can we leave this block as it is ?

Thanks !
Anders
