Default X77D80A Trim Tag

Just saw this X77D80 trim tag with A suffixed onto the end of the coding. It's on a NOR car that was listed for sale here today and I am curious what the A is all about. Also curious why an 08A car would have a V0528DZ stamped block?

It is a power window car now that you mention that. If that is what the A is for then I learned something new as I don't think I've ever looked at a trim tag from a power window car before.

According to William over on the CRG, the Norwood plant shut down for one month starting July 10th 1969 and did not reopen until August 10th. The last approximate VIN by the July shutdown was N669119. This cars VIN is 671101 a difference of about 1982 cars. My 07A 69Z was one of the last cars produced before the shutdown and is certified by JM and also has a V0528DZ original born with engine. The last four numbers of the VIN are barely legible down by the oil filter but they are there. My car has a lot of May and June original parts still on the car. It is my theory that there were still a lot of parts inventory left over as the July shutdown approached and that needed to be used up before any new parts were produced. So with that said I would assume that there were some of the old inventory still available when production ramped back up August 10th that needed to be used up. I'm no expert but the V0528DZ stamp matches mine exactly. So if you figure in the shutdown the engine is only about 6 to 8 production weeks ahead of the 08A build date. The car comes with a lot of neat paperwork (again assuming all is original). I do notice that the car has the wrong master cylinder and of course that crazy Ford caution fan sticker but all easy fixes. It is a beautiful car, good luck with the sale!

Thanks for that info. I was aware of the shut down but wasn't aware that gaps in engine stamps and trim tag dates were that spread apart.

That car is 21 cars before mine on the vin; and 23 ahead of mine on the BDY number.

Lots of 08A cars with May components.

I know it's not a Z, but my 69 SS396 born with intake is E 29 9 (May 29) for my 08D body. My born with engine was cast G 23 9 (July 23) . That's a month before my cars birthday. Aug 22, 69.
