Thanks Pete and Eddie! I don't know how this photo didn't work on that thread, but I'm happy to see it. Thanks for the efforts!

Default Photo of 68 Camaro's at Kenny Ross Chevrolet ?

Thought this may be a better place to land the below ads as they're kind of lost over in the Old Newspaper thread.
First ad from Sept. 8/68 shows 15 x '68 Copo 9737 cars w/ HD options including 1-1/16" Frt. Sway bar and 140 Speedo, note color breakdown also most cars unconverted...one w/ L78 gone and L35 transplant?
Next ad is a week later Sept/15 and down to 5 x "HiPo" '68's left, this timeline seems to fit nicely w/ the Dealer Trade to Kenny Ross where Tom B. RIP bought his unconverted car new?
Last ad is end of Oct/68 and still 4 x '68 cars left to advertise plus 1 x '68 Stinger...when did Yenko start receiving the '69 Copo cars also what was '68 Stinger production, only 2 built?

Whoo-hooo, that's awesome, I've been wanting to see a copy of those ads, thanks Pete!

Now I have a few questions.

1. on the first page, Would the Island Teal car be considered an unconverted car also, to go along with Eddie's green car and the five Corvette Bronze cars? Does anyone know or suspect if this Island Teal car was converted?

2. The 325hp ash gold car, 400 turbo, 140 speedo! Was this a 9737 car?

3. The 425hp, ash gold car, specified as Yenko, 400 turbo. Was this a prototype or experiment? Was this car considered part of the 64 cars?

4. Has anyone noticed or compared the front steering components mentioned in the first paragraph on their cars to reflect this statement. The 1-1/16 stab. bar is known, but has anyone noticed the str. knuckles or pitman arm, etc., to be different or another casting number. Has ANYONE found an 850 carb. installed?, especially a List 3418, 3886091 AN, or possibly a list 4054, 3925519 AN? This is the third Yenko ad i've seen advertising a new 68 Yenko with an 850 carb!

Thanks,
Bryan

The ads weren't always spot on. They advertised deuces with an 800cfm Holley. Not so. The deuce ad also referred to "Corvette" type motor. Which is close to correct other than they were stamped for Z 28's

I have not heard of any COPO9737 TH400 Camaros in 68 and don't think there were any 140 speeds on the SS396 325hp TH400 cars that I heard of

The 1968 427 Camaro TH400 in the ad does not list the 140 speedo

also have seen ads with 800 Holley for the 69 Yenko Camaro
the cfm rating can be calculated in different ways with different numbers but most call them 780s

the 67 and early 68 L88 Corvette used a vac sec Holley that many call a 855cfm

The advertised 396/375 cars should be unconverted cars, still w/ their factory installed MV L8's.
As noted above, I'd suspect the 396/325 car w/ 140 Speedo was a 9737 car that had its L78/Stick swapped out @ the Yenko dealership and replaced w/ the L35/M40...maybe from the car the L78 landed in?
The 427/425 car notes it has the same instruments as the 427/450 car w/ 140 Speedo also notes 'with instruments' in the late Oct. ad too.
As to the 1-1/16" Stab' Bars, has this actual size been confirmed on any existing '68 3737 cars or were they actually shipped w/ smaller bars?

Thanks Pete and Joe!

As several have mentioned that the ads are not exact, I agree. IF these ads are anywhere close, then it seems there is a possibility that there are more than six unconverted cars? And, the total might be more than 70?

396-375 Rallye Green, 140 speedo; (one accounted for)
396-375 Rallye Green, 140 speedo
396-375 Rallye Green, 140 speedo
396-375 Island Teal, 140 speedo
396-375 Corvette Bronze, 140 speedo; (one accounted for)
396-375 Corvette Bronze, 140 speedo
396-375 Corvette Bronze, 140 speedo
396-375 Corvette Bronze, 140 speedo
396-375 Corvette Bronze, 140 speedo
396-375 Ash Gold, 140 speedo;(possible engine and trans swap to 396-325/400 turbo?)
396-375 Ash Gold, 140 speedo;(possible engine and trans swap to 396-325/400 turbo?)
396-375 Ash Gold, 140 speedo;(possible engine and trans swap to 396-325/400 turbo?)

I only bring this up for consideration because of the listing with a 140 speedo and strong possibility of all these being copo 9737, which would bring the total of cars up?

Is it also a possibility that Yenko started changing these cars around to promote and SELL what was left over. If so, there are disguised copo's out there!

Also, there was another Yenko ad dated 15 Dec. 1968, listing corvette's and a Grotto Blue Yenko DEMO car. This car fits the description of YS 8012, judging from the listing on the 68 Yenko registry.

Was there official records that stated that there were only six unconverted cars? Just asking?

Thanks,
Bryan

No
years ago before NCRS reports, when I was helping Tom B research his 1968 CB L78 with 140 speedo, I told him I thought it was an unconverted Yenko COPO9737 because I thought that Yenko was the only one who got the 1968 L78 COPO 9737 Camaros from Chevy. There is some paperwork that supports this similar to Fred Gibb getting all 50 1968 COPO 9738 L78 TH400 Novas.

I then found one of those Yenko ads showing 6 L78 140 speedo Camaros for sale late in the model year.
Some people took this to mean only 6 unconverted cars were sold but I never said that.
Someone even put it in a magazine article but it has no supporting documentation.

I have not found any hard numbers for how many 1968 COPO 9737 Camaros were built or how many were converted to 427.
Fran Preve's work estimated about 70 1968 COPO 9737 Camaros were built based on MV engine production records.
Vince E said his records show 64 427 Camaros sold

Yenko also built some 1968 427 450hp Camaros from non COPO 9737 L78 4 sp cars and appears some 427 425hp TH400 cars were built from SS396 325hp cars (same as in 1967)
As far as I can tell, all the 1968 COPO 9737 Camaros were ordered as L78 4 speed with 140 speedos and the other hi po parts but hard to say if this is 100% true
