Nice Chevelle but I think he's asking too much!It's a buyer's market.

Might be a dumb question, but why would the F70-14 tires be listed as a $100 extra cost item on the (allegedly) original invoice?

Looks like a nice, albeit pricey, car. The tires are worth a lot of $$$$ alone.

Because those are white line tires he upgraded to.
Raised white letter tires were included with the Z-25 option, but if you wanted red line or white line tires, you paid extra.
Paper looks legit to me.

No redlines in 1970 for the Chevelle SS.

White Stripe was a NC option on the Chevelle SS:

Very cool car, with great color combo, great (and many) docs, neat back story, original drivetrain, a real cowl induction car, low miles, 4 speed, original Tiger Paws, etc. Good vibe under the hood. These don't come along too often. In light of the low mile green '70 L34, that sold for purportedly a bunch, I don't think his price is too out of line - all things being considered. a '70 Black Chevelle SS is just killer IMO - huh Dennis?!!!

Any chance the original hood/deck stripes could be salvaged?

Don't believe everything you read in books,as Red line tires were entirely possible from the factory on 1970 SS Chevelles or Elcaminos.Albeit they were rare back then,as the RWL was the much more prevalent. There's at least one found documented on paper today.
I think there were a total of 10 sets installed @ the factory,two were G70's,(Elco) & the other 8 were F70's.

Dealers were charging SS owners extra for White stripe & Red line tires back then.I have a Chevrolet edict discussing this somewhere.
Although he's saying it originally came with RWL Uniroyals, his Dealers paperwork says different of charging him $100 more, which was about the upgrade charge for those white stripe tires back then.
I know of at least 3 other 1970 SS Chevelle owners who recently bought vintage Uni's claiming they were original, when they really have no proof,or if they do,haven't shared it.

No SMOG is correct Charley as it was ever installed on the 1970 L-34 Chevelle, only the Solid liftered needed it.
The new for 1970 TCS=Transmission Controlled Spark is why they didn't need it.

This Flint build has Vertical stainless steel trim in the center of the grille.
