Default 1969 Nova Bumper jack

Here are a few pictures of the original bumper jack in my 1969 Nova SS.
I have a few questions if anyone can clarify.
The jack and base seem to be dated 1969 and the hook says 1968 Chevy II. I am sure this is the original one for my car, Can anyone explain this?

I am going to take a guess . . .

Chevy changed the design of the Nova for the 1968 model year. It was unchanged for 1969 which would have used the same bumper jack. Why spend any money to change the date when all it is is the "hook." Just keep making them.

Every hook I have ever seen for the Novas in 69-70 had the 68 stamping..

I believe the 69 used the base with U69 stamped on them and the 70 was different. I've seen some with U70 on them and then the 71 and later base changed to a different design altogether from my recollection. But I agree, all 68-72 Hooks were the same.
