Default 1968 Z28 w/FACTORY 4.88s?

Maybe. P-O-P and GM of Canada docs should tell the tale. Radio delete too, but I figure the race history means the original drivetrain grenaded ages ago. Fun car I bet.

Rare but not unheard of, there are a few including MacNeish’s 68.

Interesting? A friend of mine recalls a blue 68Z being raced out west that was sold out of Calgary and is now out East. He knows where the cars original motor is and now I'm wondering if this is the car he spoke of.

Mike Thorpe saw this thread last night and messaged me regarding this car since he could not add to this thread.

He said Foster Phillips and Larry Chabra raced it new while sponsored by Jack Carter Chev back in the day. It was later sold to Ron Millican in SW Calgary and used to be parked on 45th Street near 17th Avenue. Factory 4:88 radio delete and got a 350 LT1 short block installed after spinning a rod bearing in the 302. Brad Lake ended up with the original and Mike Thorpe later rebuilt the 302 for Brad. It then went into a beater 68 of Brads and was later cloned into a Z.

Mike is now checking to see where the car with the 302 went. FWIW

Kind of surprised that Chevy didn't somehow pro-rate the warranty with gears like these. 25k on 488's is like 33k with 373's!

They did require Copo 9511 to get 4:56 or higher factory rears for '69 model year vehicles...4:56 for '68 cars was RPO G82.
A few '69 Triple Copos were built w/ 9561 + 9737 + 9511, maybe other combinations too.

If this is the same car that Larry and Foster raced for Jack Carter Chev Olds, it was ordered new by Larry Chabra who also worked at Jack Carter in their parts department. Carter Chevrolet was known for ordering a lot of High Perf cars and I'm sure Larry knew what boxes to tick off on the order sheet.

Doers anyone know what the asking price of this car is?
