Personal opinions to follow;
Sad situation and the more it continues to escalate, the clearer it becomes who's more concerned about money than anyone paying tribute to these lost heros!. Most surprising is how it seems more like the attitude a corporation exercising their rights to a product would have than those you'd expect would put the recognition of famous family members first?. Great to see who's taking a stand against legal threats to share the true history of these famous cars and drivers!!! ~ Pete |

Re: Dick Harrell 69 Chevy wagon Team Car on E-bay
Anytime they address this issue they say it is not about the $$$, but during the course of the phone call demanding you remove the DH name from your car, they will offer to sell you a licensing agreement. They go on and on about how it has to do with liability, will to me, that simply does not fly. Here is why. Kim can purchase a licensing agreement for his racecar, but must agree to cover up the DH name when racing, so case of an accident, the DH group is not named in any lawsuit. What if the car is involved in an incident at a non-racing event, with DH clearly visible on the side? Lets say leaving downtown Monmouth he goes into the crowd. Yep..They better have liability insurance. Which if they have liability insurance, then it should not matter if Kim covers the DH name up or not. In this day and time, to operate a business, especially one that sanctions “team cars”, better have liability insurance. IMO, the liability issue is simply a way for them to try and justify why you need to go through them to put DH on your car.

More personal opinions;
If the need for licencing was truly more about liability concerns than money, why the attempt to gain control of the Fred Gibb name too?. Protecting your own family and assets from possibile lawsuits, sure...but to intentionally try and put yourself into even more of a position of the exact same thing you claim you're trying to avoid speaks volumes!. ~ Pete

In the words of H. L. Menkin, "Any time someboby says it's not about the money, IT'S ABOUT THE MONEY".

Wow,that wagon just put me in a time warp. I watched it race many times at NEITA (now Cedar Falls Raceway) in the seventies. It had the same paint scheme that it has now and it was really cool then as well!

That is one cool and significant Drag Car. You can measure the pics and docs with a ruler. Even just some of the paperwork and docs are historically significant.
