I'm running P275/60-15 (L60-15) bias ply M&H Racemaster Muscle Car Series tires on 8" wheels. They have the perfect vintage look. They dead hook on the street and at the strip. Check out the pictures of me in the SCR20 Reunion thread for reference.

Here are the size/style of slicks that I want to run on my Chevelle (Summit has these - I think Jegs carries them also). These are "not for highway use" (which you may be able to see the print on the side walls of the 2nd photo). These are for 15" rims and are a 7" Cheater slick and are 29.5" tall. Anyone know of one that is DOT certified?

Follow on question: are tubes required?

Thanks!

Sam, are you dead against running these tires on the street because they are"Not For Highway Use"? The reason I ask is that I run Moroso Drag Special tires up front and they are not for highway use. You'd have to have a very knowledgeable officer or a real stickler give you a ticket for that. IMO There are a lot of people who drive around on illegal tires and nothing happens.

Now, if you plan on driving in the rain, that's a different story.

Kurt - not "dead against" but concerned about the local police citing me. They may just lump my cheaters in with all slicks and assume they should write a citation. Hey Rich (Rutt) - you got your ears on? Do you run cheaters on your Nova sometimes? Def won't be running these in the rain! Thanks

BTW Kurt - the look and stance on your 'velle is SPOT ON! Love it!

This look is just awesome...
I think that is a great look on the Nova with the body colored steel wheels. I am doing up a set of slicks to run on steel wheels. Does anyone think the body colored wheels would look good when the body is a lighter color (Sandalwood Tan on a 66 Chevelle)? I can't decide.

Also any ideas on refreshing the white letters on slicks? I am afraid to try to clean them for fear of washing off the white.

Also for those looking for a new tire with sort of an old look..........I have also run the 275/60-15 M&H muscle car bias ply drag tires and like them
