Default 842 BBC cylinder head ID.

Can anyone fill me in on the subtleties of this head?? Do the production heads differ greatly from the SR's?? Some photos would be nice. I tried the search function, but came up empty.

Thanks in advance.

The originals have plugs on the ends and the later replacements do not.

Early '842 heads had plugs on each end. About mid-production 1969 went to one plug in one end only.

All '842 heads were closed chamber although I've seen
several sets with opened-up combustion chambers. I've
always been told these was done later on by owners to improve performance.
