Default 1969 Camaro Door Knob Issues

I have a 1969 Camaro with deluxe interior. The car door knobs on both sides will not go down to lock the doors manually. The key does work on both doors to lock and unlock the car but the door knobs do not go down on either side. Does anybody know what we could possibly done wrong? Is the key tumbler different for each side and could that be the issue?

If locked w/ the key, can you unlock by pulling knobs upwards or only w/ the key?

Default Door Knobs

The door knobs only stay up and will not move even when I lock and unlock them manually from the outside. I have never had that problem before. I know somebody at one time changed doors and they were standard guts inside and I had to change the window regualtors to get the door panels to fit but I don't know if they would be different on any of the other parts.

I wonder if it could be a case where the lock knobs are not connected to the lock rods. Maybe they're just shoved in the openings.. The regulators are different between deluxe and standard doors as well as the inner handles but I don't think much else is in the range of the door lock stuff. I will look at a few cars today and see if I can add some insight.

Take the door panel off and take a look.

Yes that is what we are planning on doing. Just looking for some advice as to what we could have done wrong.

Dennis, if everything is functioning properly with the door panel off then it's the deluxe door panel is stopping the rod from moving freely I've had that problem before and had to physically bend the rods where they're comfortable and not in a bind

Yes that ended up being part of the problem. Got them working. Thanks for all of the help.
