Re: 10th. Anniversary
Mayor B, I don't think you should feel Big Headed at all. If anything you should have nothing but Pride in all you folks have accomplished.
The Monmouth/LaHarpe weekend has become one of our "Must Do" events every year, and it's not just the cars and the shows, but the people! Ask ANYONE who has attended, and continue to return every year. As for Howie, well,.....I guess he's one of the necessary evils we endure. And Schonye,........... I ain't even going there. Everyone knows we love these guys, otherwise we wouldn't hammer on them like we do; and it's ALWAYS a treat to be in their presence. Then you throw in the likes of the Barnharts, Ray Morrison, Annie and Rick, the Gibb Ladies, Herbie, You and Anita, Jerry and Cathy, Bob and Nancy, Tom and Diana and the somewhat newcomers of the Stowers', the Tibors, Darren and family, and on and on; it's kinda like a family reunion except with people you really like! We can rant about this event all day but until you come see it for yourself and meet these folks you'll never really understand. It really is like 'coming home'.

Re: 10th. Anniversary
Update:
Everybody coming to the show next week, might think serious about going to Ft. Madison and crossing the bridge. Burlington is long waits and some gravel on the Il. side. Go to Ft. Madison, cross into Niota, take route 9 to Dallas City and follow to LaHarpe. thanks Ken

How about the guys coming in from the West and headed to Monmouth Friday; any options there? [/ QUOTE ] If coming from KC or points SW, Keokuk or Fort Madison would work. If coming from NW, Davenport (Quad Cities). Only bridge between Quad Cities and Burlington is Muscatine - about 50 miles north of Burlington (US34). So, if coming across US 34 in Iowa, Fort Madison is still best. Drop down off US 34 at Mt. Pleasant on Hwy 27, take exit 19 at Donnellson and follow IA2 east 15 miles to the bridge. By the way, it's a draw bridge so you could have to wait 15-30 minutes if it's open......... |
