Very sad news. The Allman Brothers have always been one of my favorite bands. I saw them in concert four times.

I saw them once before Duane was killed at the Fillmore West and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Saw Greg a few years ago and his voice was just as strong as ever. I wore out the 2 record set "Live at the Fillmore East" and actually bought it again. Probably still have one somewhere.

I grew up in a small city in the central valley of California so I never got a chance to go to many concerts but every time the Allman bothers came on the radio all conversation ended until the song was done. By far one of my favorites, his music was timeless.

Heard this news earlier today and it hit me hard. I screamed NO!! ... when I read it on Yahoo home news page. I had a cry and pushed through it. I was fortunate enough to have spent some time playing with just Gregg. Wish it was with the Allman Bros, but no such luck. But I'm not complaining, as it was a thrill during my music thing. Can't really call it a career. And being invited to his home on School Road in Novato, CA Lot's of pictures with him with many artists and gold records all over the wall. Got to see him play in my home town last year and tried to get back stage. But they told me no and wouldn't let me back. I have some fond memories for sure. Some time I'll tell the whole story if anybody wants to here it. Almost 1am here, but I pulled out my '77 Les Paul and am going to play me some southern rock for a while. Maybe One Way Out. I think that's the last song he ever played. Danny

Sad news, and another rock legend moves on leaving a legacy of classic music behind.

RIP Greg

I have seen them a few times over the years. Once, when I was in the USAF and stationed at Pope AFB in N.C. back in the early 1980's the Gregg Allman Band played at the NCO club. I got to stand right there and lean on the Hammond B3 while they played. What a show!
