Thanks Kurt, I agree, it will take years to get as brave as you.

Dan:-( Take off eh!!!

My pistons will be forged, rods are forged, crank is Nodular cast iron,

I have a line on a used steel SFI flywheel, clutch fork, and slip yoke....... I hope this works out:-)

Ryan

What does MAW stand for............. Might As Well? well Nick Morocco and I are MAW/mulling over the idea of building an M22Z(3)

The more we research the more it looks like the right way to go.

2.99 first gear, 2.04 second gear, 1.46 third gear, 1 to 1 fourth, with 3.42 rear gears that makes for a perfect 10.2 to 1 final first gear ratio(textbook) with almost a perfectly even drop of 28% to 30% between gears....

Also 55 mph at 2300 rpm, and 75 mph at 3200 rpm.

Very nice....however I must ask....is the intent to use the Autogears M22Z as the alternate trans after you are finished competing in the PSMCDR`s.

You already know how I feel about the PSMRDR rules.... what is fair and what is not, what is cheating, what is not, etc.....There was no Z in any M22 in the '60`s and `70`s

Like I have said for years and years.....in this hobby you need more than one car.....A single car cannot be everything and complete in every event.

When my car is ready I will relinquish my PSMCDR tech whistle to you Dan

The rules state any gear ratio can be used in the rear end:-)

"Drivetrain

Automatic Transmissions

The transmission must be correct for the year, make, model, and horsepower claimed. Shift improver kits are allowed. Aftermarket shifters are not allowed. No manual valve bodies. Lightweight purpose-built, drag racing transmissions NOT allowed (for example Pro Trans, Kilgore, etc.). Just switching to aluminum drums is illegal. Anyone caught will be banned from the event until corrected! Torque converters must be within 1 inch of the stock outside diameter. Maximum stall limited to 2200 rpm. Higher stall speeds will require factory documentation.

Manual Transmissions

The transmission must be correct for year, make, model and engine of the car. 3-speed manuals may be upgraded to the correct 4-speed if originally available. Aftermarket H-pattern shifters are allowed if no modifications to the floorpan are necessary. Line locks are not allowed. Scattershields are okay. No conversions from column-shift to floor shift allowed unless available as a factory option. Aluminum flywheels are NOT allowed.

Rear Axles

The rear axle must be of the same manufacturer as the car. Any gear ratio is allowed. Lightweight driveshafts NOT allowed.

Driveshaft safety loops are mandatory on all cars 13.99 and faster! Spools of any kind are NOT allowed."

I am way more focused on street driving than PSMCDR, I don't have intentions of being competitive just getting off the porch:-) my car needs to be reliable and fun!!!

Ryan

I love the second car idea, after tuitions are paid up maybe Daddy will step it up?

Thanks for the Rules....the Key wording is "correct 4-speed if originally available"....then I assume that you will be on your back often changing your trans combo when not competing in PSMCDR`s.

Exactly....my point, while PSMCDR's is a great fun event.....I get it. It is prohibiting you from building the car as YOU see fit to build it for your ultimate enjoyment. Again, this is why having more than one car is the way to go.

It's ok....to disagree.....you are new at this and learning a lot everyday....I already see your plans evolving and changing as you are learning what is best for your needs, your car, your family fun and enjoyment.

For the record.....PSMCDR's will cost you much much more in the long run, it is very addictive.... costs especially sky-rocket when parts break.....and we know things do break.
