That's a good race, made up some of the R/T in the 60' but gave it back by the 330' - certainly had him covered in MPH!!

You hit the nail right on the head.
Now, the $64,000 question is how brother Joe is going to trade 2 1/2 MPH for ET. ???
ET Wins Races, MPH is just Top End power to make up for a slower RT against a slower car.
But That King Kong Musi Power plant sure has a lot to play with,,,,,tuning wise. Without breakage too.

Well, that is all true of course....I'd say the quicker 60' indicates suspension and traction are not issues, but if it's a NO2 setup gotta bring the kits in sooner since its laying down in mid track. If its a turbo car then....I dunno, never had a hair dryer on anything!

Oh it's definitely a Nitrous motor,
Split 8's F.I. 959 C.I. w/ 8 stages.
The engine runs, burn outs and such, idles on NO2 as well.
They'll figure it out,,, the car is capable of sub 3.60 "on a short fuse". .... (in 5 years, he's Never Lost a Motor)
Thank goodness I'm not running any nitrous,,,lol.

The real $64,000 questions is "when are we going to see track times from that hugger orange '69 Z in your garage?".

SOON,,,SOONER THAN ITS 50 th Birthday...
Joe has the complete engine at his shop now.
The reciprocating assembly is at Broughers Speed Shop,,,,Jerry Miley is checking all the pieces. He'll balance it the proper way with minor drilling and metallurgy weight to the nearest gram.
Joe will index everything, set or machine the clearances, the valve job and invididually assemble the heads and short block with "non kit components".
He works closely with Comp Cams (but we're using a modernized old school Lunati Flat Tappet grind.
Nothing fancy in the SB, All Stock 302 stuff fine tuned.
I Had a runner engine in it last year to fit everything and alignment.
I never drove it with that tired 383.

Thanks for asking !!!!
Big smiles here too see Time Slips as well.

I'm seriously contemplating to trim and bend the shifter hole and tunnel for the indestructible Hurst Super Shifter.
The shifter hole was trimmed decades ago, I left it be when it was on the rotisserie. The only problem, it's a console gauge car and it all works.
Who needs a rosewood shifter plate, to be in the way, right ???

Before you start "messaging" stuff you owe it to yourself to contact Jody Haag. He can fit the Long shifters into most original trans tunnels and they are sweet. He has done two for me and I couldn't be happier.
