Default 1966 V74 Hazard Flasher Kit

I bought one of these hazard flasher kits for my '66 Caprice. These are the electrical connectors it has. They are curved.

Unfortunately, it does not appear the tilt column harness has similar connectors for me to plug this in to.

It appears I can't use this kit. Is there anything I can do? Is there another place to look for a curved connector?

Thanks.

The picture Lee posted is essentially what's in the 1966 assembly manual. Here's a picture from my assembly manual.

The 4 way flashers goes inline with the flasher wiring that comes off the steering column. You need to look for the 2 support bars under the dash that help stabilize the dash/steering column. If you follow the wiring you'll see the existing wiring with those connectors clipped to one of those bars. You basically unplug the connectors and put the 4 way flasher inline. If you need other pics let me know.

Thanks guys. I've seen those diagrams, but I cannot locate those curved connectors. I'll crawl under the dash and will look again.

Several months ago, I removed the dash housing. This is not the best photo, but I don't think there is a wiring harness attached to those dash supports.

Rick,
I'll crawl under my dash tonight and take a look. It's been a while since I've been under there, so I'll need to check.

tilt is unique because of the turn signal switch 64-66 has an external switch that hangs on the column for tilt ..like in your pic..so on non tilt it loops thru..on tilt its special

the flasher is one or the other..tilt or not...and the tilt switches bring a premium..

i went thru this decades ago..with skylark gran sports..

for tilt one end is curved the other is 5 sided..

for tilt the flasher is equipped with the right connectors..

i thought i had one for tilt, but realized i sold it..

you could make a jumper harness, ive done it..the wire colors are right, you need a couple tilt harness ends and yours could work

I took a look under my dash tonight to refresh my memory. The wiring that comes off the steering column is a short harness that looks similar to the harness that Lee linked in his reply. The dash harness has the curved connector as part of it and the short harness from the steering column plugs right into it. The flasher plugs in between the dash harness and the steering harness. If you don't have the curved connector as part of your dash harness it may have been modified. Follow the wiring that comes from the steering column and see where it goes.

Here's another page from my assembly manual. It shows the connector as part of the harness (Directional Signal Switch) and are clipped to one of the support bars as I mentioned before.

yes Lee..thats what an A-Body uses, i know that jumper is there if you take an untouched car apart....

from my experience.. youre on the right track, the thing is on a flare stat made for tilt, the ones i have had and searched out, the 5 sided connector is on the flasher unit..ive had and used a few but on A body's, or at least on the ones ive used, and i only had flare stat..thats the company that GM branded as their own..and i am pretty sure the aftermarket prob made jumper harnesses to get around the problem

and i remember that 65-66 are the same but 64 is diff...some of the others are pretty cheap and cheesy from the 60s and they scare me..i would only use a flare stat on my cars

need to look around a little more and see what others have run into....im more of an a body guy

i will look around, i remember seeing this type of prob on the PY forums, and the guy posted pics of everything, and i also have seen a for sale ad there and that flare stat was a tilt and he had great pics...if they didnt purge the ad, i will get the pics
