Hurst RamRod Shifter production years??
Hurst RamRod production years and sourcing ?
From what I have read it came to market in 1971 but was sitting on the shelf at Hurst for many years prior. What was the last year of production? When did the round handle reverse first appear? Did they change in design over the years? Are parts interchanagble? Can a flat handle reverse bee used on the latter production version? Is there a Hurst RamRod expert or someone that rebuilds them? Replacement parts sources? Thanks Bernhard

My Hot Rod magazine was from September of 1971.
I’m not sure when they switched from the chrome reverse lever to the round one but I don’t think it was more than a year or two and yes, they are interchangeable. As a matter of fact, I purchased a parts Ram Rod for just that reason, for the next time I pull the trans/shifter, I will swap out the round reverse lever for the chrome one. Crash is the man if you want someone to rebuild one. He has everything to do it and do it right along with good information on these shifters. Kurt |
