Idk if the price is market value but I’ve always loved these things. I have a friend who had a no mile burgundy 96... maybe 2500 miles? He sold it recently and bought a black 94 with like 15k so he doesn’t feel bad using it (which he never does lol). I like it!!

Bought a 95 brand new - same color as the one for sale. BEST car I have ever owned. Bought it for $23,000, put 150,000 miles on it then sold it for $12,500 in 2002. The only issue I ever had with the car was a bad thermostat at about 50K miles.

The 96 is the most valuable of the three years. That was the year Chevy finally put the shifter in the console instead of on the steering column

I bought a 95 black SS after my son was born. He was a big kid, and my wife couldn't get him in the back seat of my Lincoln LSC! She said we need a 4 door car! I took her right to the Chevy dealer and drove it off the showroom floor! Fast forward 18 years, we gave the car to my son after he got his license. 6 months later, he got rear ended by someone texting! Sad end to a great car. The opti spark was an issue as well as water pumps, but a great car! My plate was 4DRVETTE. Big improvement in the 96 was a floor shifter and analog gauges. I miss that car, not $48k worth, but I miss it!

----I have a 94 Caprice wagon (same drivetrain as the SS) with 177,000 miles on it. Its sort of an above average winter beater. Took it to MCACN this year and averaged 75 to 85 over the 5 hour trip. When I filled up in Indiana (still had 1/4 of a tank app.) I checked the mileage and got just short of 25mpg. I love this old warhorse. Half the new 4cylinder crossovers cant pull that number......Bill S

Does the '96 have the LT1 with Optispark issues as well? LS didn't come out until '97 in the Vette but wasn't sure if they resolved that issue.

----Distributers were problematic only in 94 I have heard. I have replaced mine twice. The problem is that moisture gets in and, literally, that's that. I also just had a water pump replaced that had a bent shaft and kept eating seals. My cement driveway looked awful. But, with that said, those are the only two things I have replaced in 10 years of ownership except for wear items. The exhaust lasted 21 years......Bill S
