Would that engine configuration get the AIR Smog system?

No. If it was a manual trans, then yes, it would.
Wow, that is one nice, solid old Elky!

This car has been through ebay twice and hasn't sold. Am I missing something about it because it doesn't look far out of line to me? How many times do you really use the back seat anyway? It's not mine but I am trying to talk myself out of it!

There are some guys out there that believe it can't be a real SS because of the vin. But, I believe the SS package became a trim package in 69 and did not require the 138 VIN, correct?
Looks like a great car to start with.

Correct. RPO Z15 is the SS 396 option for the Chevelle and El Camino. There is nothing on the Tag/VIN that will tell you it's a SS 396.

Probably selling it because the sound of the exhaust pipe rattling against the floor is driving him nuts....

What does everyone think it's worth? $10, or $12,000?

A friend of a friend is looking for an El Camino, but it has to be a four speed. Told him about this one, but he did not show interest.
