Default A12...S-Code... now a Y82 to join the ranks!

Pop quiz time. What does one do when they A: Have a car freshly restored wrapped up in a corner waiting until after a certain show in November is over so the tires can be roasted, and B: Have another car on a rotisserie getting blasted with another full restoration on the way for next year's certain show? Answer: Simple.... you buy another car that needs to be restored!

Why would anyone do something so stupid? The reasons are vast and convoluted. Or is that corrugated? I don't know, I did goodly in skool, so my vocabulism may not be the most bestest.

But what I did snag up was a 1978 Y82, W72, WS6 Trans Am complete with window sticker, buildsheet, manuals, and a few other tidbits of documentation! Options on the car are power disk brakes, power steering, power windows, power locks, Velour Cloth interior, AM/FM 8-Track, Cruise, Air, Tilt, Hurst T-Tops.

Porn handlebar moustachio and cowboy hat to follow! More pics when it gets here later this month.

Cheers

Dave

The WS6 option applied the use of the W72 400 Pontiac motor with 220hp, could be had with either stick or auto in 1978. Only in 1979 did they restrict use of the 400(dropping the lower tier L78 option) and in addition paired it only with 4spds.

Cool car, any interior shots? Any rust/rot?

What he said! This is a January built car, and my understanding from the W72 site, autos were only available during the first half of the year tapering off to only 4spds during that latter part of 78. And yeah, only 4spds in 79 with that engine. My car is an Automatic.

Some rot on one fender and oddly, the right rear frame rail by the shackle. That's about it. Already diving into catalogs and I scooped up a few NOS wiring harnesses for it But it'll just be driven as-is until I get the Mustang done. Yeah..... right

Cheers
