Re: 1969 RPO DX1 Hood Stripes
[ QUOTE ]
I have a Camaro History book by author Steve Statham and it has a 1969 red, 396, vert SS with DX1 stripe and of course it has the simulated stacks on hood. Thanks Todd [/ QUOTE ] I have a book called Original Camaro 1967-1969, The Restorer's Guide to all models 1967-1969 by Jason Scott and it has on page 13 a 1967 Camaro with a bowtie outside mirror, page 14 a 1967 Camaro with chrome exhaust pipes exiting the tailpanel, page 16 a 1967 Camaro with a rear spoiler, page 21 a Hurst shifter on a 1967 Camaro, page 33 a 67 Camaro with 68 and up Rally center caps, page 38 a 1967 Camaro with a rear antenna with a rear spoiler (wrong), page 72 1968 Z/28 with a CAUTION FAN sticker, page 114 a 1969 COPO engine compartment that clearly has the wrong master cylinder (repop). And many, many more incorrect items throughout. My point, is that you can't believe everything you see and read in books. Just because it has a certain item on it, doesn't make it correct. The book I just mentioned is titled "The Restorer's Guide to all models 1967-1969". I have nothing against the author and the book is full of great pictures but I wouldn't use it to correctly restore a car. There is a lot of referencee material in the back that is useful but that's all. Just making a point. Rick H. |

Re: 1969 RPO DX1 Hood Stripes
No DX1 on SS's, couldn't replace the standard D90 stripe with another version. If you didn't want the D90 you didn't get stripes.
