Found it under the seat...
I decided to remove the drivers seat in my '69 Z/28 today to see if I could get a little more leg room by installing those seat extenders. Well, after removing the seat carefully, it is by the way all original interior, anyway I noticed a bunch of stuff under the carpet, a used match, stick of juicy fruit spearmint gum, still in the wrapper and hard as a rock along with about .65 in change and of course a Mickey Dee's french fry. After a little more investigating I see this little piece of paper with what looks to be the carpet information. My car has a 06A build date and the date on this is 4-7-69 of all things.....4-7 is my B-day!

Re: Found it under the seat...
That's really cool. My wife worked for JP Stevens in NYC. textile design however, not the automotive carpet division. I didn't even know that they made auto interiors!
How was the MickeyDees fry? still good? |

Re: Found it under the seat...
Let's see, the quarters were '66 and '73 the dime was '70 and two pennies both were '72. The french fry was hard as a rock and there was also a piece of rock candy stuck to the carpet with a bunch of long hairs on it. I'm curious about something else though, there were 8 total holes that were threaded to mount the seat, one in front of the other about an 1"-1"1/2 behind the other. Is that normal or should there be only 4 holes to bolt the seat to?

Re: Found it under the seat...
When I installed A new interior in my all original 1960 Chrysler 300F I founda nickel dated 1958. Some line worker dropped it ther during assembly in Jan 1960. Poor guy probably couldn't buy a soda that day.
Under the seat of my 1971 442,which was sold new in Michigan, I found a drive in movie stub valued at $2.50 for Detroit Drive Inn. Also a parking stub for a Congress Parking lot in DC dated 1973. Cool stuff, kept all of the stuff. I refer to this stuff as a cars DNA. Paul
