Curious if the cast 'TFS-SBC-18' denotes these as 18-degree heads? Apologies if you stated that earlier and I missed it.....
Great progress BTW!

Tim...they are a 23 degree cylinder head. Here's a link to the product via Summit Racing

No worries, thanks for clarifying. I messed around with 18-deg heads once in the hunt for more power and just wondered about that cast number.

Been pretty busy of late but found the time to get the new motor loaded onto the run cart and fired it up last evening. It ran great as I got the cam broken in and put a 20 minute run on it. With 11:1 compression it has that classic 30/30 sound but with modern ramps and a tighter lash. Duration @ .050" is 247/254 with .504/.498 lift:

You said modern ramps. Is this still a solid flat tappet or roller now? Sounds good regardless.

Darrell...

Solid flat tappet but Comp redesigned the ramp speeds with a modern lobe design and tightened the lash up to .016 on this Nostalgia grind. Makes like "no vaccum" either so it'll need a pump installed. Won't know until I've driven or dyno'd this one but it's supposed to wake up the lower end and mid range some and can run 7500 rpm on the top end of a 302.

I've also got this option for the top end if I decide to run some more gear in it. This intake will either be going onto the 302 in the green 69 car or it'll be going on the bigger solid roller motor in my blue 68.
