Re: Kinda neat ole vintage pic
This confirms the history of my car! Now I can put a face (a very young face) to all the conversations I have had, over the phone and via email, with Al MacNamara and Charlie Jacobs. The car still stands as it did in 1969.
I attached a photo from 1969 with Charlie's comments. Here is the previous discussion about my car with photo from 1969. SS/E Vintage Drag Racer Can I get a copy of that Dragster? Thanks for the post that article was great!

Re: Kinda neat ole vintage pic
It's been confirmed this car was a COPO camaro. This was one(1) of two(2) camaros built as a program cars for Al MacNamara and Mac Chevrolet. The sister car is pictured in that photo captioned "Charlie Jacobs vs. Al Mac". My only question is this; was the other car the ZL-1 car?
Does anyone on this board own the other identical car? Where is Dick Harrell at during this MFG. points race? I am only asking because Harrell supposedly prepped both car in 1969, which explains the clutch driven T400 that came with the my car. Always with the questions!

Re: Kinda neat ole vintage pic
That is too freakin' cool, Rich! That car has it in spades!! And being SS/E further documents it's 427 heritage, as the 427/425hp Camaros were natural SS/D cars, but you are allowed to hang more weight and run down a class...
As for Harrell, he woulda been drivin' his funny car, as we was world champ in '69... |

Re: Kinda neat ole vintage pic
The Dick Arons/Gordy Foust SS/E with the "Berger Chevrolet" on the door, is currently owned by our own Matt Murphy. It was at the 2003 Fall Chevy Vettefest. At that time it was still in its original paint.

Re: Kinda neat ole vintage pic
From the August 29, 1969 National Dragster:
Hedrick had SS/E MPH record of 125.69 at the time (set 6-69). Stiles the ET record of 11.16 (set 9-67)
