1/8 overbore? I didn't know that was possible??? It makes sense though as 4.375 stroke would seem to be soooo torquey [word?] that it would never hook up. Do you have to sleeve a block to get to .125 over?
Wow.. that would the best of both worlds.. 511 cu in with only 4.25 stroke. That's a big dog!

And just to remind everybody, 4.250 stroke is the standard stroke of a Pontiac or Olds 455 and I believe the Buick 455 was behind @ 4.312 So stroking a 454 chevy [4.00'']1/4+ [.250]ONLY brings it to BOP's standard stroke....

I do remember a 70 LT1 Vette I used to own always hooked verry hard but that was with...about half the horsepower [360 / 700 ?] am I close Wayne?

BTW I don't believe the 'Rev Kits' you guys refer to address the weakness of the exhaust bosses vs. GIANT spring pressure of a modern roller cam.

The Rev Kits help by upping the pressure on the lifter, but only on the lifter [body] itself...the extra springs take part of the load off the valve springs & other related peripherals. Ask your local stock car racer...he'll know all about 'em...

Jim
No sleeves, block is not filled either.Chev Big Blocks have mucho material to work with!I've been tossing the idea around of a F.A.S.T Ford Fairlane with the FE 427,but the cylinder walls are very thin and really limit the whole large cube idea. We'll see what happens. [ QUOTE ]

No, but I did see where you claim to be slow with a 13.57'ish - do you remember my et's from last year

On the Rev kits that are in the lifter galley, Two purposes...1. If you break a rocker arm or push rod, the RK will keep the lifter in place, not allowing the cam to throw it out of the lifter bore[also preventing a wide open oil pressure loss] and ...
2. It ends the slamming effect [which breaks stuff] of the cam throwing the lifter off the cam's ramp at higher RPM, really any RPM, which is limited to the valve lash.
The springs have very low tension and don't allow you to lessen in any way the seat pressure [250# maybe] of a roller cam.

Wayne/Rob:

Would the Olds DRCE block interchange with the Chev big block? You could use Oliver tractor pistons in that (well, almost). I recall the Olds "W30 boys" were assigned that after they lost their own engine to play with. They took the basic BBC design and beefed it in the critical areas. Pro Mods run them (Keith Elkins, others) Anyway to make one of them look like an L88? I think the top ends from an L88 will work. Isn't that about what the Mopars are doing with the repro Hemi Blocks?
