Re: 1968 427 L89 Corvette owners.... I have your block
I would imagine they might be less than thrilled to hook you up with a customer that you intend to inform as having a restamped engine. Not that they won't oblige, they just might not be enthusiastic.
(Maybe practice your technique by calling up the husbands of old girlfriends and let them know you have first hand knowledge that their wives weren't virgins when they wed....just sayin....) Good luck. |

I was under the impression that "numbers matching" meant something different for CORVETTE OWNERS, didn't they do that to themselves via judging standards of a particular society?

Re: 1968 427 L89 Corvette owners.... I have your block
Update:
I have talked to the restorer, the owner of the car who had it restored, and a rep from Russo and Steele. A fellow SYC member sent me the last two registered owners information and I have not been able to get ahold of the last registered owner. Looks like I have hit a brick wall at the moment. Any suggestions other than to blast the Corvette forums with this information?

Re: 1968 427 L89 Corvette owners.... I have your block
I've been on this same 'good news' mission w/ original 'Vette motors twice before and the results of direct owner contact without openly advertising the item was negative both times..
What's most surprising is how most restamp owners seem to bury their heads in the sand instead of putting their true original block on the shelf, even if to just keep it from popping up later?. Best of luck w/ your quest and lets hope w/ the facts being open like they are the result is positive!. ~ Pete
