Default enduro bumpers

I have the original enduro bumper off my 69 COPO. It's in tuff condition where the rust is pushing out in a few spots and a small tear at the bottom. Can you restore these things properly, or is it a wall hanger???? Anyone had really good luck????

I believe if it is not twisted very bad then you can do it. At least that is what my body man tells me. I have one now that has some rust and the bottme area is torn but is not twisted. They got better materials today I think to fix those rubber type bumpers. I bet Mike Angelo (m22Mike) can fix it! He loves a good challenge.

No way, I am not that good..
When they get swelled up with rust I am not sure what can be done with them.

Consider it like an infection. You need to perform surgery to cut a flap out the endura material, down to the rusty metal. Clean the metal and then use the modern urethane filler material to fill the excised section. As long as the bumper is straight, its not a really big deal. This same procedure is used when you have to replace the broken off bumper bolts when the head is still stuck under he endura surface.

You got nothing to lose, it was going to be a wallhanging anyway, right?

LOL

I've repaired cuda elastomeric bumpers using the process I described, years ago. I'd be happy to experiment on it for you.

Can you post some photos of the offending bumper?

You dont want to remove the entire skin. Too hard to get it all back in place.
