I'm right with you on that Bill. My Caprice interior is starting to crack in the same way. It's tough to try to keep it as unrestored as possible and have things like this happen. Like when the engine got rebuilt, everything got painted. Jay Leno came by one day at a show and asked why I painted the engine. I told him what happened. Other things on my car like the back window needs attention because of rust in the channel (my car is one of those Nu Yawk cars). How do you fix the rust, secure the window again and try to match the weathered paint? Well, I'll be watching to see what can be done about the cracking vinyl seats. I'm going to need to do something too.

With Tom's help it looks like I can get done what needs to be done. It will most likely be a couple of weeks until we can get this in process. I will be sure to report back once the repair is complete in the event other people have a similar problem.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for checking in. I just left a message at the shop late last week and waiting to hear back. Before that the contact at the shop was on vacation and then I was away visiting kids/grand kids. Now we are in the busy season with the car guys and boat guys getting ready for the warm weather....I imagine it will take a while to get the seat in for repair.

I use Zymol vinyl conditioner. It looks good, not too shiny or greasy. Whether or not it does anything to actually "condition" the vinyl is a question I don't know the answer to.

Just heard from Bob...they are buried with spring rush..awnings/boats..he says he will call you to discuss timing. If it doesn't play out to your satisfaction, I will talk to a few other guys.
