Re: 67 4K Cowl Tag Real or Fake?
That one looks legit. The one tag that is fake does have a subtle difference.

Re: 67 4K Cowl Tag Real or Fake?
I'm no expert, but I don't like the 6 on the first tag compared to my real car..although one month apart on build date).I guess the dyes could have changed..

Fake
This car is still listed for sale. We were looking to buy it until we found this post disputing the cowl tag and engine stamping, as well as some other things that dispute this car's legitimacy. I have also had someone look at those two items. He stated that he cannot tell for sure on the engine stamping unless the paint is removed, but that the cowl tag appears to be a reproduction, just as others have stated above.
This car is listed on Hemmings.com, and the attached picture was on there, showing blue paint on the car. When I questioned the owner about the blue paint, he claimed that the "restorer" painted the car red, and that it had always been red, since the current owner has owned the car. However, he also told me that this, and other pictures of the car on a lift were in fact taken in his shop. So, he admitted that the car was blue during his ownership. He has also now removed the picture from the hemmings post... seems like he is covering his tracks to me. There are too many things that he has claimed that have proven to be false. I just wanted to post this, so that any future interested buyers may find this post and avoid being scammed. |

I am far from an expert on this subject, but what jumps out at me is that the tag looks 1 day old not 50 years old. They should have given it some "patina".

4K?
Does the car have the square traction bar?
