The Red White & Blue at PID in the Near Lane is Jimmy Walker's ('Hooker' as he was affectionately known) FACTORY SUPER STOCK '69 AMX.
It is the Single most Original. Un cut original paint and running gear of the 52 cars. The most documented as well.
Unfortunately Jimmy passed away over the winter from leukemia complications.
We'll loved, well respected gentleman car guy.
The car is last known to be in the care of The National AMX club president.
For the 1970 NHRA /AHRA Season. The skunk works racing team sent him a 1970 body / Interior/Mechanical kit and a 1970 AMX VIN TAG to update the car out of the then heavily factored SS/D Class.
In Hemmings Muscle car monthly is a nice multi page feature on these cars, ownership and current knowledge.
The issue, I'm guessing is 5 years old......
Just Sharing fond memories ......god bless you, Jimmy.

I loved those Super Stock AMX cars; still do love 'em!. They ran SS/D and would have battled with some pretty stout competitors including 427 Camaro's and some Hemi cars.
The story of the "skunk works" update package is interesting. I know for a fact that Oldsmobile's D.Dale Smith also sent update items to some of the Olds teams, but I can't say if new VIN tags were included. I DO know that NHRA was a lot more strict in their rules those days compared to today in what was/wasn't allowed in terms of engine/body parts.

Yes, actual full AMC VIN Tags were sent denoting 1970 code.
MSO's , manufacturers statement of origin (factory title)
were available upon "request" as well.
The funny thing is, at the time of his death, he still retained all of the factory update parts both cosmetic and mechanical. He also mentioned all the tags, papers, shipping docs, boxes, special containers , guideline papers, certification etc he had stashed away.......

Even more funny,,,,,, "stupid, actually" , is in 1987, he offered me the car, parts, racing suits, docs and all the spares he had for $15,000.........Duh.
I had just bought a 70 Z/28 & a 69 Z/28.......the bank of Dad was closed .......
