Re: Cutting up vintage mag wheels to get what you want
The "Mag Center" in the Keystone pic isn't magnesium, it's aluminum. To my knowledge, Keystone never made any Kustomags with mag centers.
I have seen both chrome AND polished centers. I think they were both available. The 15x4 skinnies do have taller centers than the others. My 15x4's and 15x10's have two different center diameters, and I know both are untouched originals. Sheradon does good work. Buddy of mine had his Spyders done there- same "Guy" in the V8Buick post. Same principle on a Keystone- cut the center off the wheel, and re-weld the center to a new rimshell. I have a pair of 15x4 skinnies as well as a pair of 15x10's I might have narrowed to 8's. Two NOS sets of caps too. Think I covered all the questions and helped clear some things up a bit. P.S. The two different center paint colors were silver and black. I think everything pre-70 was silver, post-70 was black.

Didn't Keystone make a wheel called the "Rogue" that was one piece and had gray centers? I think they looked alot like the "Classics".

Yeah, that's the ones. I remember my Dad having a set on a 70 GTX when I was a kid. I remember thinking that name was something really bad and mean back then..lol

Re: Cutting up vintage mag wheels to get what you want
I thought this would be interesting for anyone who liked this thread or idea.
I just saw this on ebay. The first picture is a 14x7 wheel NOS and the second is 15x7 NOS. Looks like the same center used on each of these. |

Just as an aside, who besides me stared at the reflection for a long while just in case there was a glimpse, lol?
