Default 1969 Canadian COPO Camaro build date tag 06C

I have read where most or all Camaros built at Norwood plant in June 1969 had the date tag stamped 06A, per MacNeish book. Is it possible one was built with tag stamped 06C?
The GM Canada docs show this to be a COPO car. All VIN numbers appear to match.
Just trying to find out if anyone knows of a COPO built with the trim tag stamped 06C rather than 06A for a June built car.
Thanks,
John Schwamm

Best is post more details of the car in question including serial #.
Are you considering purchase or do you own this car already?
Welcome aboard!

Did you get a copy directly from GM of Canada? If so, then I would think you are off to a good start.

If you got the docs as a copy, or from a previous owner, then I would order a copy first off to make sure they are authentic.

Good Luck!

Nope, no Norwood assembled June dated Camaro left the factory with anything other than an 06A cowl tag. VIN may be for a COPO, but the cowl tag would certainly be suspect. GM of Canada should have the body number, colors etc to compare to the tag, or maybe someone already did that an made a tag up to match. Need pictures of the tag and VIN plate to tell whats up.

Have the docs, all appear correct. GM Canada and authenticity certificate from and confirmed currently by Ed Cunneen
The issue is the June build tag showing 06C. In the MacNeish book he states: "Special Note: All Norwood plant Camaros build during June 1969 were build date coded 06A for the entire month of production. 07A is the next build date sequence.
This car shows 06C, thus my concern.
Any ideas on if it is correct? Is MacNeish info correct?
Just trying to understand this issue to confirm real car.
VIN is 12437N659193

John:

There are guys on this site that can help you sort this out.
At best you have a car with a fake trim tag on it. Worst case..... well, who knows. I have no idea if the story of two cars with same vin is true. Been lots of discussion of Canadian "air" cars. There are a few states in the U.S. where such "air" cars are also possible.

Wish you the best. Hoping you weren't defrauded on the deal.

I have not bought the car, trying to determine if it is real or not.
Sure sounds to me like the guy who did this one tried to make it exactly correct, but did not know the June cars had 06A on build date tag for all, he made it 'match' the GM Canada docs showing third week of June build thus stamped 06C. Probably not knowing about June cars being 06A back when it was done, over 12 years ago, that all June cars were 06A.
My speculation. I have emailed the guy who had it for sale back in 2002, never any replies!!!

Close, but caught now I think?

Do you have a good photo of the trim tag you can post here ? That may help you.

Lynn,

Yes the story of this car, two Copo Camaros with the same vin is true. A car was restored from the tags and what was left of the original body (vin stamped firewall, not much more) was purchased by someone in Ohio. What was left of the real car was supposed to have been purchased by the owner of the restored Copo with the same vin. Not much likely left of the original car on the current restored car.
