1970 Can Am Pace Cars
I've been wondering if anyone has a thread or any info on the Pan Am pace cars used in 1970. I believe they were 1970 LS5 Chevelle convertibles , white with black stripes and red guts. I believe there's a few of them around, 1 collector apparently owns 2 of them. A friend remembers seeing them at the Edmonton races on the Can Am curcuit. I was wondering if anyone else knows anything about them or even has a pic they could post??. Thx

Re: 1970 Can Am Pace Cars
Bob,
The website of Kerry Bogard's (Classic Dream Cars of FL) indicates he had a Can Am Pace Car . It is in their sold section. He had it for awhile and I would say sold it about 2.5 years ago. Scroll down a bit on the link and you will see white convertible with red guts - pretty. I assume these would have been Canadian delivered vehicles and therefore would have the GM of Canada documentation available. No doubt a nice looking ride. Supposedly there were only 3 .

Thx Sam. I'll call him and try and see what info he has on them. He's saying there's only 3 of them, sounds pretty rare.

Re: 1970 Can Am Pace Cars
Interesting...the color combo is really nice too!.
Somewhere I believe I still have some programs and/or brochures from the Edmonton Can-Am races...I don't remember the cars but I'll take a look and see what's there?. Reading the seller's notes of the car that sold, it notes he had the GM Microfilm copy!. As I've mentioned here before, these microfilm copies include 30 plus cars w/ options as equipped and are what GM Historical uses to prepare the magic documents...they've stopped including the microfilm w/ documentation packs in recent years but what I'm getting at is that the possibility is good the three (or more) cars would have been ordered together...if the cars were shipped out together too, they may all be included on this same microfilm...yes, Vins and all!. ~ Pete
