I have no idea who this guy is. I have no idea how that beat up old car ever got into the building. I believe the young lady in the photo may be being held hostage.

I believe that all of this is a figment of someones imagination and it has all been creatively photo-shopped by some unscrupulous Mopar fanatic....

But, but but, BOB!!!!! I'm telling you, Kelly is here on her own free will!!! That's what I was told to say.....

OK, don't anyone panic, but I didn't correct any of the incorrectness that has been pointed out to me just yet. I figured I'd add a whole bunch more incorrectness to it, and if my Freshman year Algebra has taught me anything, it's that two negatives make a positive! Sooo, on that mentality, I have to end this restoration next year on an even number of incorrect things so they all cancel themselves out. Ya know, it's hard to argue with that logic! My goal is like Bush during the 2nd Gulf War....shock an awe!!!! I'll shock the judges with the sheer number of things wrong, and leave them in awe that anyone would enter a car like this into judging!!! But seriously, fear not! I will be correcting things in the next few months and will re-post for more critiques. So here's my latest things done: Rear leafs rebuilt, front suspension just about done, and I'm starting into the Dana 60 as we speak.

As you can see, 53,000 miles of Michigan rust really pits that metal This took a LOT of blasting to get them this clean. Despite what you've heard on the street, leaf spring clamps are a pain. But it's so much fun seeing a nice clean spring assembled!!!

Cheers

And here we are assembled on the front end. I need to rebuild the power steering box with new seals and such, then I can mount that on the k-frame. And I'm festid...festigeous...festi ....ah, working hard at blasting the upper control arms and pressing in new bushings!

Nothing is tightened down yet, and no cotter pins installed. I'm working on the brakes too so I can wrap up this whole front end. Once I get the rear axle done, that'll be just about it for the drivetrain! Next month, Welding 101 with such memorable moments as, "OWCH!!! HOT HOT HOT!!!!" and the ever classic, "Hmmmmm....I could have sworn I had lined that up better than that!"

Cheers

They were originally dipped in cosmoline as a protectant for the raw metal finish.

What Steve said! They were dipped, so to simulate that, I taped off a dip line by the large rivet at the front. Sprayed liberally, let drip dry with runs and such to get the proper look. I didn't use real cosmoline since that stuff stays relatively tacky. I used Krylon battery protectant which is pretty close to the real stuff in color. Hope to wrap up the driveline this month!
