The only Texas Tommy's I ever knew of was at the corner of IL Rt. 59 & IL Rt. 56, and I believe it was gone by the time I started driving. The Jewel and E-G Home Center was what gave it away to me, too

Just curious....whereabouts on Archer Ave? I see that Gas City sign, but not sure where it was. Heck in the late 70's I was only 8 years old (in 79).
I do remember another Gas City on 55th and Pulaski.

The Gas city was on Archer and Mayfield, just east of Austin Ave. Everyone hung out at Ridge Center which was across the street from Gas City. You would pull out on Archer and give it your best burnout.

They were all over this area and had the best baked goods.Jules Burny was a close friend of mine and shot a mean game of Golf as well. WOW!...Main St. Downers G. in 1961. Your 1st pic is looking southbound and looks like it was taken standing on the R/R tracks.You can see Herberts Men store on the left,which just closed it's doors this summer. Your 2nd pic looks like it was taken near Maple Ave.looking northbound,on the west side of Main.. Great pics Dog,where did you get these from?
