Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
I never did it either Mike on the brake drums or undercarriage BUT may look cool now with my car being Fathom green and checking out some old magazines. Can always repaint the drums easy enough.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
I remember when I was a kid talking to a construction worker in my neighborhood who drove in each morning in a GTO. He had painted his Drums red to match his car. He had a torque thrust style wheel and the drums were very visible. I have never seen white though. I remember the guy looked a lot like Steven Tyler from Aerosmith.... The GTO also has glasspacks and shackles and several things hanging from the rear view mirror.. Maybe a squirrel tail or red tail hawk feathers...

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
I remember the lowriders painting brake drums white. Richmond/East Bay area, California, 1970s. Usually five-spoke Rocket deep-dish mags with small WWs.

Sammy... Some things were done ,"Back in the day" that I never thought were cool, painting anything white on the undercarriage might be one of them [/ QUOTE ] The fenderwells and front frame stub on my COPO Chevelle were painted white by the original owner. Might have looked cool with the tube-around-the-framerail Super Comp headers. |

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
White undercarriage is a good thing (it preserves a non undercoated car )

Jenkins painted all his gas tanks white to reflect the heat.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Some racers did it to see if they had a fluid leakage.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Fuel leakage, heat reflection... whatever... they did it 'cause everyone else did. White gas tank and rear end. In 1978 I shocked everyone with gloss black paint on my 12 bolt, drum to drum. Left the gas tank unpainted. That was the end of the white undercarriage in this area. Dog? what say you?

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
You can see the white wheel wells on my pop's car here, which I think was abut 1970.
